Responsibilities

  • Lead the laboratory roadmap aligned with the business strategy and Global Q&FS Lab priorities.
  • Represent the Business Unit in discussions with Global Q&FS Lab Lead for analytical developments.
  • Plan and ensure regional capacity for new analytical capabilities across factories.
  • Follow through on the deployment of MGS testing methods and adherence to quality procedures.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for laboratory investigations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in laboratory science for North America.
  • Promote a quality culture and safe lab behaviors across the organization.
  • Report on laboratory quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage verification plans for Food Safety parameters including sampling and monitoring.
  • Oversee proficiency testing, associate training, and closure of lab CAPAs.

Job Description:

The NA Q&FS Inbound Specialist will deliver the laboratory strategy in collaboration with Mars Petcare, MGS Laboratories, Royal Canin Global Q&FS and NA Factory Lab network to ensure that the region has access to essential laboratory expertise and capabilities.

This role supports the testing strategy for raw materials and finished products conducted by the Manufacturing Unit in North America to ensure compliance with the relevant MARS Standards and local regulatory requirements.

What are we looking for?
  • BSc in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology (or related discipline).
  • ≥5 years' experience in a lab or micro/Chemistry environment.
  • Experience in a Food manufacturing Micro/Chemistry Laboratory environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of chemistry lab equipment and test methods.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material specifications, good manufacturing practices, good laboratory practices and auditing.
  • Prior technical experience in leading analytical chemistry programs.
  • Demonstrated project management & problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.


What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Lead SL roadmap according to BU lab strategy and Global Q&FS Lab priorities in coordination with BU Q&FS team, MGS Labs, and SL managers/coordinators.
  • Be the voice of the BU with Global Q&FS Lab Lead to give input for deployment roadmap and escalate new request for analytical development and other concerns.
  • Ensure Regional CAB is planned and available at all factories to implement new analytical capabilities.
  • Deploy MGS tests methods and Global Petcare/Royal Canin procedures or projects.
  • Provide Level II technical support and troubleshooting for investigations the network as needed.
  • Act as a source of expertise/SME in laboratory science for North America.
  • Proactively promote a Quality culture and safe laboratory behavior.
  • Ensure quality BU SL metrics are reported in a timely manner to NA QLT / MGS and drive CI with site to improve Lab status if required.
  • Manage verification plans (Control, Sampling & Monitoring) for Food Safety parameters.
  • Provide Governance of Factory Labs for:
    • Proficiency testing and ring test programs.
    • Associate competency and training.
    • Adherence to QMS and Mars Site Lab Standard.
    • Timely closure of lab CAPAs.
  • Collaborate / liaise with MGS SLSS to:
    • Escalate issues with support, equipment, test methods, kits, etc.
    • Help drive improvement of test methods with the support of MGS NA SLSS.
    • Act as the main point of contact for Regional QFS.
