The Electrophysiology APP plays an integral role in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with cardiac rhythm disorders. Working collaboratively with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the APP provides comprehensive care across outpatient, inpatient, and procedural settings.
The APP will evaluate patients with arrhythmias and related cardiovascular conditions, develop treatment plans, manage cardiac devices, provide pre- and post-procedural care, and educate patients and families regarding treatment options and disease management. This position offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license while working within a highly specialized cardiovascular team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient outcomes and advancing electrophysiology care throughout the Midlands region.
Required Qualifications:- Advanced Practice Provider: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in cardiology (EP experience preferred but not required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for adult inpatient positions
- DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Position Highlights / Direct patient care activities:- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias and other electrophysiologic disorders in both ambulatory and inpatient settings
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and develop evidence-based treatment plans
- Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits for electrophysiology patients
- Manage patients with atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, and other cardiac rhythm disorders
- Provide pre-procedure evaluations and post-procedure management for electrophysiology studies, catheter ablations, pacemaker implantations, ICD implantations, and other EP procedures
- Interpret and manage ambulatory cardiac monitoring data, including Holter monitors, event monitors, and mobile cardiac telemetry
- Participate in the management and follow-up of pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices
- Round on hospitalized electrophysiology patients and collaborate with consulting services to coordinate patient care
- Prescribe medications and adjust treatment plans in accordance with clinical guidelines and scope of practice
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, and lifestyle modifications
- Collaborate with electrophysiologists and cardiovascular team members to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care
- Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
- Other professional expectations:
- Complete appropriate and timely documentation and billing.
- Demonstrate responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
- Maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law.
