Summary:
The Director, Controller will provide financial advice, analysis, and leadership by serving as a technical expert and liaison between operations managers/directors and financial services. This individual should serve to promote the achievement of the missions and fulfillment of the vision by following the values of Ballad Health. The position requires highly developed organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Oversees all functions of Accounting for assigned areas including ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the close schedule, coordinating data requests for regulatory reporting and audits, and other internal and external needs as requests. Leads the department in ensuring timely filing of sales and use tax, business license forms, property taxes, escheatment, etc. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations for assigned areas and assists in developing and implementing standard work and processes consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This individual will be responsible for review of general ledger reconciliations, monthly trial balances, budget preparations and analysis for assigned areas, resource conservation, and expense monitoring. The Controller will promote effective decision-making and assist in the development of financial strategic plans, short term busines plans, annual goals and objectives, and new program analysis.
Assists in developing and implementing succession planning for accounting and finance areas, to include mentoring and/or job rotation for subordinates who exhibit promise for higher responsibility. Teaching others and being an effective role model is an important part of professional practice. Provides training and support to Accounting and Finance staff as well as other leaders throughout the organization. The Controller is responsible for hiring, training, development, and providing general leadership to the respective team members.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Master's degree strongly preferred. At least Seven (7) years' experience in accounting or finance, with at least three (3) years professional experience in healthcare setting, required. At least one (1) year of leadership experience required, three (3) or more preferred. Background in public accounting or healthcare preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active HFMA, CPA, CMA, or similar accounting or healthcare certification required.
