Overview

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level advisory on the deployment of large-scale Splunk or SolarWinds environments for federal missions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance monitoring gaps that impact agency-wide critical systems.
  • Technical implementation of advanced AIOps models to predict and prevent system outages.
  • Serve as the primary technical advisor for agency-level observability strategy and tool consolidation.
  • Analyze existing monitoring architectures for coverage gaps and recommend remediation aligned with NIST standards.
  • Mentor senior architects and engineers on advanced observability practices and telemetry standards.
  • Support the federal Authority to Operate (ATO) process by providing technical evidence for continuous monitoring compliance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience in systems engineering and performance monitoring.
  • 7+ years of deep expertise in specialized domains such as log analytics, SIEM integration, or real-time telemetry.
  • Recognized authority in observability with a record of solving complex mission-assurance problems.

Preferred Certifications

  • Federal & Security: CISSP and CCSP.
  • Domain-Specific: Splunk Enterprise Certified Architect or SolarWinds Certified Professional.
  • Architecture/Management: Azure or AWS Solutions Architect Expert.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in Splunk, New Relic, SolarWinds, and AppDynamics.
  • Advanced query languages: SPL (Splunk), KQL (Kusto), SQL.
  • Deep expertise in OpenTelemetry (OTel) and cloud-native observability.
  • Knowledge of custom API integrations for federated monitoring views.

Regulatory & Domain Expertise

  • Demonstrated expertise in applying FedRAMP High and NIST 800-53 Rev 5 monitoring controls.
  • Technical implementation of continuous monitoring under the DHS CDM (Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation) program.
  • Experience with monitoring in classified (SIPR/JWICS) environments.

Clearance Requirement

Active security clearance (Secret or Top Secret; TS/SCI clearance preferred) or eligibility to obtain one
