Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced Monitoring & Event Management (MEM) Team Lead that will be responsible for the 24x7x365 operations of the customer Enterprise Operations Center (EOC), full-stack monitoring of all infrastructure (servers, network, storage, voice, and endpoints), and event management processes that ensure P1 incidents are identified and notifications issued within 5 minutes. The ideal candidate manages the EOC team, administers SolarWinds and other monitoring tools, manages customer account access (25 named users), and maintains operational dashboards with sub-30-second refresh rates.

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the EOC/MEM team, providing technical direction, shift scheduling, and performance oversight for all monitoring engineers and operators.
  • Manage 24x7x365 EOC operations - ensure continuous monitoring coverage, shift handoff procedures, and escalation management for all infrastructure events.
  • Administer SolarWinds (NPM, SAM, NTA, NCM) - manage monitoring configurations, alert thresholds, polling intervals (15-minute standard), and dashboard management.
  • Ensure P1 incident notification within 5 minutes of detection - manage alert routing, on-call escalation procedures, and notification workflows.
  • Manage full-stack monitoring coverage - servers (Windows, Linux, Unix, Mainframe), network (routers, switches, firewalls), storage, voice, and endpoints.
  • Manage the customer account access for 25 named SolarWinds users - provision accounts, manage permissions, and conduct quarterly access reviews.
  • Maintain operational dashboards with sub-30-second refresh rates - design, build, and maintain dashboards for FDIC leadership and operations teams.
  • Coordinate event management - manage event correlation, noise reduction, and alert suppression to minimize false positives and alert fatigue.
  • Coordinate with all service tower leads to ensure monitoring coverage for new systems, changes, and decommissions.
  • Lead P1 incident bridge calls - serve as the EOC representative on major incident calls, providing real-time monitoring data and impact assessment.
  • Produce weekly/monthly EOC performance reports, monitoring coverage metrics, and P1 incident trend analyses.
  • Drive monitoring tool improvements - evaluate new monitoring capabilities, integrate additional data sources, and expand coverage.

Work Location: Must be on-site at the Primary Data Center located in Northern Virginia

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years management experience
  • Minimum 8 years of IT monitoring and event management experience in a large enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in an IT outsourcing or managed-services environment.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation certified
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ITIL 4 Foundation certification
  • SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) or equivalent SolarWinds certification.
  • Experience with Splunk or equivalent SIEM/log management platform for event correlation.
  • Familiarity with AIOps platforms (Moogsoft, BigPanda, ServiceNow Event Management) for intelligent event correlation.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Event Management integration with monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of SNMP, WMI, NetFlow/sFlow, and syslog monitoring protocols.
  • Prior federal government EOC/NOC experience (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53).
  • Experience with Grafana, Kibana, or similar dashboard platforms.


Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
