Position: Model Based Systems Engineer II
Level: Mid

Location: San Diego, CA

Telework: Hybrid remote/onsite, with typical set schedule at Government facility

Salary: $111,700-$141,000

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer II to support systems engineering efforts through the application of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools. In this role, the successful candidate will develop and maintain system models, support technical analysis and architecture development, and collaborate across engineering teams to ensure models accurately reflect system requirements, design, and behavior. This position will also support work within collaborative digital engineering environments and contribute to architecture products aligned with Department of Defense standards.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop,maintain, and update Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts to support system requirements, design, analysis, and verification activities.
  • Apply Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Modeling Language (UML) to create structured system models and related technical products.
  • Support the development of system architecture products using Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) standards.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in cross-platform collaborative MBSE and digital engineering environments to ensure consistency, traceability, and technical alignment.
  • Analyze system information and engineering data to support model development, system decomposition, and technical decision-making.
  • Assistin the preparation of technical briefings, reports, and other engineering documentation related to MBSE activities and system architecture efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, or another science discipline requiring the application of advanced mathematics skills, such as Business, Mathematics, Statistics, or Probability.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience performing Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Experience working in cross-platform collaborative MBSE and/or digital engineering environments, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and/or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
  • Secret Clearance or ability to obtain a secret clearance.
