Mitigation Department Manager

ServiceMaster Restoration by David - Nashville, TN

Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications

ServiceMaster Restoration by David is looking for an exceptional Mitigation Department Manager to lead our mitigation team in Nashville, Tennessee.

We are looking for more than someone who simply knows restoration. We are looking for a leader.

Restoration industry experience is helpful, but it is not required. The right person will have strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, a strong work ethic, high moral character, and the ability to build systems and develop people.

Our ideal candidate is someone who naturally takes ownership, sees problems before they become bigger problems, and knows how to bring people together around a common goal.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

As Mitigation Department Manager, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of our mitigation department and ensuring that our team consistently delivers excellent service and quality workmanship.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, develop, coach, and motivate the mitigation team.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems and processes that the team can consistently follow.
  • Improve operational efficiency in order to achieve productivity and profitability goals.
  • Ensure mitigation projects are properly managed from initial response through completion.
  • Establish quality-control procedures and ensure they are consistently followed.
  • Identify operational problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Monitor team performance and key operational metrics.
  • Ensure jobs are properly documented and communicated.
  • Coordinate resources, equipment, manpower, and scheduling.
  • Help create a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor employees to help them reach their potential.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, insurance professionals, vendors, and other stakeholders. Vulgar language has NO place here.
  • Step in and solve problems when situations don't go according to plan.
  • Continually look for ways to make the department better, faster, more efficient, and more consistent.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Leadership:

You don't have to have years of restoration experience, but you must know how to lead people.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Motivate and inspire a team.
  • Set clear expectations.
  • Hold people accountable while treating them with respect.
  • Lead by example.
  • Make decisions confidently.
  • Build trust with employees.
  • Develop people rather than simply manage them.

Operational Excellence:

You should naturally think in terms of systems, processes, and efficiency.

We need someone who can look at the way things are currently being done and ask:

"Is there a better way?"

You should be capable of creating simple, repeatable systems that allow our team to consistently produce high-quality results-even when the department is busy.

Character & Integrity:

Character matters tremendously to us.

We are looking for someone with:

  • High moral character.
  • Unquestionable integrity.
  • Honesty and transparency.
  • A strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • Respect for customers and employees.
  • The willingness to do the right thing even when nobody is watching.

Work Ethic:

This is a leadership position in a fast-paced industry. We need someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get involved.

The right person will be:

  • Hardworking.
  • Dependable.
  • Accountable.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Willing to help the team when needed.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of difficult situations.

Problem Solving:

Restoration doesn't always go according to plan.

We need a manager who doesn't make excuses or immediately look for someone to blame.

Instead, we need someone who thinks:

"Here's the problem. How are we going to solve it?"

You should be able to remain calm under pressure, evaluate a situation, make good decisions, and move the team toward a solution.

Restoration Experience:

Restoration experience is a plus-but not a requirement.

We are willing to train the right person in the technical aspects of mitigation.

Experience in any leadership or operational environment may be valuable, including:

  • Construction.
  • Property management.
  • Facilities management.
  • Logistics.
  • Operations management.
  • Manufacturing.
  • Military.
  • Emergency services.
  • Other team-oriented operational environments.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

The successful Mitigation Department Manager will build a department where:

  • Employees know exactly what is expected of them.
  • Jobs are handled consistently and professionally.
  • Systems are followed.
  • Customers receive excellent service.
  • Quality is never sacrificed for speed.
  • Communication is clear.
  • Problems are prevented or are resolved quickly.
  • Employees are trained and developed.
  • The team takes ownership of its work.
  • Operational efficiency continually improves.

Ultimately, your job is to build a great team and follow/enforce a great system for that team to succeed.

COMPENSATION:

  • $90,000-$100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Company vehicle to be used while on the job.
  • 2 weeks PTO.
  • Paid holidays (8 days annually).
  • Phone allowance.
  • Health plan (50% premiums paid by employer).

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems, improving systems, and building something great.

If you are a natural leader with high integrity, a strong work ethic, and a desire to learn, your lack of restoration experience should not stop you from applying.
