Mission Critical Estimator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-orientedEstimatorto lead and manage the bidding process for data center renovation projects. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of bid preparation, submission, and follow-up, ensuring timely and competitive proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and experience working in complex, fast-paced environments. This position will be based out of Northern Virginia.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end bid process for data center renovation projects, including RFP analysis, bid strategy development, pricing approach, submission, tracking and followup.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, project management, procurement, finance) to gather necessary inputs for bid proposals.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications, particularly related to MEP systems.
  • Develop and maintain bid schedules, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Prepare bid documentation, including scope of work, pricing, and compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and vendors to obtain competitive quotes and ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Conduct post-bid reviews and debriefs to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain a database of bids, outcomes, and lessons learned for future reference. Develop reports conveying accurate project cost history.
  • Partner with operations to review project risk assessment, scoring and completion.
  • Reviews project business plan with other stakeholders, such as operations and office leadership, to ensure alignment and profitability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 6 years of experience in bid coordination or project management within the construction or data center industry.
  • Working knowledge ofmechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP)systems is required.
  • Working knowledge of interaction between disparate low voltage systems (BMS, EPMS, Fire Alarm) and how to properly bid them out to eliminate scope gaps
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, specifications, and estimating practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk, Building Connected).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to develop General Conditions and General Requirements estimates.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Must be able to work for any US Employer without current or future visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data center construction renovation projects, pricing, and additional requirements involved when working in a live compute environment
  • Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to MEP systems.
  • Knowledge of LEED, Uptime Institute, or other relevant certifications.
  • Established relationships with multiple, qualified datacenter contractors.

Compensation Details:

130,000 - 150,000
