Overview of the Role

Saputo Dairy Products Edmonton Plant is seeking an enthusiastic Technician with experience in Automation, Instrumentation, Millwright and Electrical to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and automation systems within the facility.

Dual ticket preferred: Electrician/Instrumentation/Millwright/Automation certificate

Schedule: Hours of work are subject to the vacation schedule, scheduling variables and will change due to operation needs.

  • Week 01: Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday - 6:00 am - 6:00 pm

  • Week 02: Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday – 6:00 pm to 6:00 am

  • Week 03:  Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday - 6:00 pm - 6:00 am

  • Week 04: Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday – 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

Rate: $ 45.00 / hour + premiums - Rate progression based on CBA.

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Committed to safety, the environment, working within a team, willing to learn and contribute;

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and manuals to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations;

  • Experience with troubleshooting the following packaging and process equipment:

    • Conveyor systems - Bevco table top conveyors, rotary filling equipment;

    • SERAC bottle filling systems, automated sleeving equipment;

    • American Fuji sleever, bottle descrambling machines;

    • Pace bottle de-scrambler, bottle capping processes;

    • ACS, Fords, and Zalkin capper machines, automated boxing equipment;

    • SMI, Shaft mounted drives;

    • SEW motors, gearboxes and homogenizers (TETRA PAK);

    • Heat exchangers; and

    • ALPHA LAVAL valves and overall process flow understandings.

  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance;

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices;

  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and maintain records. Experience in SAP an asset;

  • Maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices;

  • Capable of medium to heavy lifting;

  • Communicating on a constant basis with plant personnel;

  • Ensure that all work is performed safely while following OH&S, WCB, Food Safety and other Company regulations and procedures; and

  • Other duties as required/assigned.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation/Millwright/Automation certificate;

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a food processing facility would be an asset;

  • High level of self-motivation and initiative with excellent trouble shooting skills;

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;

  • Instrument knowledge with pressure, temperature, flow controls, calibrations and programing;

  • Demonstrated proficiency and dependability;

  • Candidates must be strong, independent individual while possessing the ability to function within a highly integrated team environment;

  • Demonstrated solid multi-tasking, problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills;

  • Advanced mechanical and technical aptitude;

  • Knowledge and experience with PLC controls and programming systems. Allen Bradley an asset;

  • PC Windows based O/S experience an asset;

  • Demonstrated solid Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), understanding and compliance. Knowledge of Food Safety Systems would be an asset;

  • Proven communication and inter-personal skills; and

  • Should exhibit initiative, good judgement, diligence, and have an excellent work and attendance record.
