Mid-Level or Senior-Level Project Engineer is responsible for for all aspects of code compliance evaluations and supporting clients through all stages of product development, testing, and certification. The Project Engineer manages assigned projects from product sampling and witness manufacturing through creating final certification documentation within client budgeted timelines. This position will travel at least 25% of the time.
Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM

What you'll do:- Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of building codes and related product standards by research and review. This includes witnessing of testing at the laboratory to see the product standards in action.
- Assume responsibility for projects and tasks and establish client commitments with follow-through
- Assist Sales Team with determining scope work for quoting purposes.
- Review and thoroughly understand contract requirements and document any deviations.
- Lead project kick-off meetings with clients, develop project milestones and commitment dates.
- Communicate directly with clients on status of projects, required information, and completion dates.
- Communicate and coordinate with the testing laboratory on a regular basis to ensure smooth client transitions between tasks.
- Conduct off-site, in-person audits at manufacturing facilities with the ability to lead the audit, communicate requirements, and document all phases of production and quality control.
- Develop detailed audit reports that document all the details gathered during the audit.
- Develop factory audit manuals promulgated from the audit reports.
- Peer-review factory audit manuals completed by others.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally to the various manufacturing locations.
- Perform other work as required

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:- B.S. Degree in Engineering or closely related field of physical science
- Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers while possessing skills in diplomacy conducive to working with clients through technically challenging compliance issues
- Capability of working both individually and within a team
- Good research, documentation, record keeping and technical writing skills
- Ability to understand and apply new test methods and procedures for assigned projects
- Expected to travel as business needs dictate
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
Preferred Qualifications:- Passing of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) designation
- Knowledge of construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources and engineering principles
- Knowledge of the U. S. Building Codes and applicable fire standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials and methods
