LJB Canada, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Mid-Level Bridge Engineer role in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience on major infrastructure or transit projects and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. We are looking for a motivated professional with a forward-thinking mindset, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit.

Salary Range: $92,000 - $138,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL BRIDGE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Prepare structural designs and evaluations for bridge and transportation infrastructure projects under the direction of senior engineers and project managers.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, design standards, and analysis tools to develop practical and effective engineering solutions for a variety of bridge and structural projects.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, engineers-in-training (EITs), and technicians, while supporting their professional development.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, clients, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues and contribute to successful project delivery.
  • Prepare contract packages, technical reports, drawings, and specifications for ATEC, the City of Calgary, and other key clients in accordance with current policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals.
  • Participate in client meetings, project planning, and proposal preparation as required, supporting business development initiatives.
  • Provide construction engineering support, respond to requests for information, review shop drawings, and perform site visits and inspections during active construction projects as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of current industry codes, standards, and best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement within the bridge engineering team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MID-LEVEL STRUCTURAL BRIDGE ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA or ability to obtain registration.
  • 5-8 years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety of complexity, bridge type, size, and scope.
  • Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code.
  • Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS and Microsoft Office applications.
