Requirement: (Mid) Appian Developer

Job Description:

Forge requires an Appian IT Specialist to support an Agile application-delivery team in a secure DoW customer environment. The role will design and build Appian records, interfaces, rules, processes, and integrations; validate work through continuous testing; and support controlled application releases while collaborating with mission, data, security, and quality personnel.

Key Responsibilities: Key responsibilities of the candidate will be (but aren't limited to):
  • Design and develop Appian record types, SAIL interfaces, expression rules, process models, sites, and related objects
  • Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into maintainable technical designs and working Appian features
  • Configure secure data access, groups, object security, record security, and process security under established patterns
  • Develop and troubleshoot REST integrations, relational data access, record relationships, and data-validation logic
  • Create reusable components and maintain naming, documentation, error-handling, and coding standards
  • Develop unit test cases and support automated UI, regression, accessibility, integration, and performance testing
  • Perform peer reviews, resolve defects, and analyze application logs and Appian monitoring information
  • Prepare application packages, inspect precedents, coordinate configuration values, and execute post-deployment validation
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with product owners, analysts, testers, data engineers, and senior developers
  • Maintain technical documentation and comply with DoW security, access-control, and change-management requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizen (Authorization to Work in the U.S. will not suffice); previous professional experience supporting the U.S. Federal Government, either as a federal employee or contractor, is required
  • 4+ years of professional IT experience, including hands-on Appian application development
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent, OR 4 additional years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Hands-on Appian development experience across records, interfaces, process models, integrations, or deployments
  • Experience with Appian records, SAIL, expression rules, process models, integrations, data stores, and application security
  • Experience with SQL, relational data modeling, REST APIs, JSON, and secure integration practices
  • Experience writing tests, troubleshooting defects, performing peer reviews, and documenting technical work
  • Familiarity with Git-based delivery, CI/CD concepts, package inspection, and promotion across environments
  • Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoW-approved baseline cybersecurity certification, or ability to obtain within the first 30 days of starting
  • Active Tier 2 background investigation or higher, completed or favorably adjudicated within the previous 18 months

Highly Desired Qualifications:
  • Appian Certified Associate Developer or Senior Developer certification
  • Active Secret security clearance preferred; previous professional experience supporting a DoW organization, mission, or customer is strongly preferred; experience with Appian automated testing tools, performance testing, or deployment automation
  • Hands-on Python development experience is strongly desired, including Appian integrations, connected-system services, or data-processing utilities; experience with MariaDB or PostgreSQL is also valued
  • Section 508 accessibility testing experience and familiarity with Axe-Core or comparable tools
  • Experience supporting legacy modernization, data migration, logistics, financial, or case-management workflows
