Job Description

About the Role

Process Engineers on our Process Engineering team are key partners for customers in the North American market. As a creative technical leader, you'll support the successful sale, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions for customers' ultrapure water (UPW) treatment needs. To deliver winning solutions, you'll apply deep technical knowledge of our solutions and technologies combined with an
understanding of the customer's process, the market, regulations, and our competitors to continually balance capital and operating costs and technical risk with project success.

Core Responsibilities

Microelectronics UPW Process Engineers lead the process design of ultrapure water treatment solutions for the
microelectronics industry.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Water chemistry characterization and design basis development, including reclaim-to-UPW applications
  • Unit process selection and design, equipment sizing, and process guarantees
  • Application of advanced treatment technologies including solids separation, low and high pressure membrane treatment (ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis - conventional and high-pH), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes to meet the stringent requirements specific to the microelectronics industry
  • Owning the system integration across multiple unit operations, and/or work in close collaboration with a dedicated system integrator on complex flowsheets
  • Evaluation of system operation under both design and upset conditions, identification of potential points of failure, and participation in detailed hazard and operability reviews (HAZOPs)
  • Engagement in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies as part of design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions

Key Success Factor:
  • Given the complex nature of these treatment flowsheets, the ability to act as system integrator and clearly identify and communicate the impacts that any given unit process will have on upstream and downstream unit processes is essential.
  • Industry Leadership & Expertise
  • You'll build long-term relationships with customers and key experts in the industry and present at industry conferences and technical forums to position Veolia as UPW experts within the microelectronics market. You'll serve as an expert within the business, participating in innovation of solutions, technologies, and markets, and training and mentoring others in process design.

What We're Looking For:

We seek a Senior-level process engineering professional who communicates with confidence and leadership in cross-functional bidding and project-execution teams, manages competing priorities effectively, and is strong at balancing autonomy with collaboration

Qualifications

Core Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an Engineering field - Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred, or other technical discipline with a combination of process design and hands-on UPW system experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design - a combination of process design experience with a background in field operations will be considered
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design/operation for the microelectronics industry
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems

Valuable Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with process design software/tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM), along with strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools (Google Sheets, Excel)
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to exercise strong engineering judgment under changing conditions
  • Strong team collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of the system integration process
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / Ing.) in a US or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America

Compensation:
  • The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly bench-marked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity.
