Expected salary range of $153,900 to $171,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

***This job is for a Manager Radiation Protection Operations role located at Peach Bottom CEC in Delta, PA.***

Primary Purpose of Position

Accountable for the in-field application of policies and procedure relating to applied Radiation Protection (RP) programs. Directly manages the Radiation Protection first line Supervisors and Radiation Protection Technician activities in their daily support of plant Operations and maintenance activities.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

  • Assist the Radiation Protection Program Manager in developing, reviewing an implementing department procedures and policies, and assuring that these documents meet all federal and company regulations.
  • Participate in Business Planning, Budget, and Business Performance review regarding RP and the site. Fulfill managerial responsibilities regarding assigned staff (e.g. Employment, Development, Compensation, Performance Evaluation, etc.). Ensure consistent and effective work force practices through assigned supervisors/functions.
  • Attend Peer meeting to assure that industry best practices and standards are being implemented effectively and uniformly across all sites.
  • Accountable for ensuring that department activities, priorities and resources ae being managed effectively to meet the needs of Operations and Maintenance. This includes planning and budgeting refuel outage support for the department.
  • Accountable for the performance improvement of the RP first line supervisor (FLS) and RP Technicians (RPT).
  • Fill in for Radiation Protection Senior Manager at meetings and responsible for department when Manager RP (RPM) is off-site.
  • Accountable for ensuring that department activities, priorities, and resources are being managed effectively.
  • Provide critical observations and feedback to site and departmental staffing to foster continuous improvement.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 8 years power plant or related industrial experience OR
  • Current or previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license with 8 years of related experience OR
  • Associate degree with 10 years of related experience OR
  • High school diploma/GED with 12 years of related experience
  • Supervisory or managerial experience
  • Must meet additional requirements as outlined in ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 (4.4.6) Standard, "Selection, Qualification, and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants" with 3 years related experience, which shall include 2 years nuclear power plant experience and 0.25 years on site experience. During the 2 years of nuclear power plant experience, the individual shall have participated in the radiation protection section activities at a nuclear power plant for 6 months.
  • Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties


Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in applied radiation protection in nuclear power facilities
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in two or more functional areas of radiological protection, including as low as reasonably achievable, bioassay or whole body counting, decontamination, dosimetry, radiochemistry, radiological environmental monitoring program or radiological effluent technical specifications, radiation protection instrumentation, radiation protection operations, or radioactive waste
  • Successful completion of National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certifications
  • 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience
  • Previous RP Supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, Station Technical Specifications, and Final Safety Analysis Report documents
  • Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) accredited qualified American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Radiation Protection 3 Technician qualification
