Summary

Spire is seeking a Manager of MoGas Operations to work in Wentzville, Missouri. This position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Spire MoGas Pipeline system including construction, maintenance, engineering, and training activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of natural gas across the system in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Company O&M procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works in conjunction with the MoGas Leads to develop and execute operational and maintenance plans.
  • Manages the business within the operations and capital budgets, constantly seeking value-added solutions and efficiencies.
  • Works with Gas Control to ensure customer nominations are delivered in-full and on-time.
  • Provides direction and accountability to assigned employees with regard to implementing and accomplishing the business's objectives and continuous improvement of business processes.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of various federal and state regulatory agencies and their respective regulations and compliance requirements as they pertain to pipeline operations and construction activities.
  • Participates in internal and external audits.
  • Advocates for damage prevention and transmission system integrity by participating in public awareness and coordinated response exercises with third-party contractors and local first responders.
  • Functions as the business liaison to internal Shared Services groups including Transmission Integrity, Corrosion, Project Engineering, Environmental, Safety, Facilities, and Fleet.
  • Coordinates the development and submission of regulatory reports.
  • Tracks the business's metrics including safety and financial performance.
  • Recognizes issues and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, understands consequences of decisions, seeks input from others, and makes strategic decisions.
  • Develops cohesive, long-term strategic plans to progress the MoGas business unit in order to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives and goals.
  • Represents and maintains an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
  • Coordinates periodic review of operating documents including the O&M Manual, Emergency Plans & Procedures, and Transmission Integrity Management Plan.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct management of the Measurement & Mechanical and Field Operations group Leads (12 total employees).
  • It is the responsibility of the Manager to support and develop their teams in order to improve their leadership skills and assist them in achieving their career goals.
  • Manages the pipeline assets. Leads the people.


Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior supervisory or people leadership responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree with a preference for construction management, engineering, or business-based curriculums.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid, state-issued driver's license.


Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Experience with and understanding of transmission pipeline operations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal pipeline safety regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety policies and procedures.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills required.


Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work performed in a normal office environment with the office located in Wentzville, Missouri.
  • Minimum of 3 days required in office; 5 days preferred.
  • Typical normal office hours Monday through Friday (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) with the flexibility to work additional hours as required depending on travel and specific operational issues/projects.
