Maintenance Manager is responsible for safe, reliable, and cost-effective execution of all maintenance within assigned areas. This role provides leadership to the Maintenance Shop Supervisors and oversees contractor performance to ensure maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. The Maintenance Manager is accountable for developing and engaging employees; improving equipment reliability and asset performance; controlling maintenance costs; and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, and Reliability, the Maintenance Manager drives continuous improvement and fosters a culture of safety, technical excellence, and operational discipline.
Responsibilities- Lead, develop, and mentor Maintenance Shop Supervisors while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure safe execution of all maintenance work through compliance with applicable safety, environmental and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and work processes.
- Drive equipment reliability and asset availability through disciplined execution of preventative maintenance, effective planning and scheduling, and close partnership with Reliability Engineering to improve maintenance strategies.
- Ensure quality craftsmanship for all work performed.
- Maintain world class housekeeping, shop organization, and workplace discipline consistent with 5S principles.
- Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting, repairs, turnarounds, and capital maintenance projects.
- Manage maintenance budgets, labor resources, contractor performance, and maintenance expenditures to achieve business objectives.
- Improve maintenance productivity through Lean Principles, 5S, standardized work, planning and scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor maintenance performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed to improve safety, reliability, schedule compliance, equipment availability, and cost performance.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Reliability teams to prioritize work, improve asset performance and support production objectives.
- Support maintenance planning, shutdowns, turnarounds, and long-range asset management strategies.
- Develop organizational capability through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and technical skill development.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve safety, reliability, work processes, maintenance costs, and overall operational effectiveness.
Required Skills and Education- Minimum of 10 years of progressive maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success leading organizational change, culture transformation, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets, contractors, and capital projects.
- Strong understanding of preventative, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High stress tolerance and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
