Full Job Description
Role Summary

The Environmental Supervisor leads environmental compliance, program maintenance, and risk reduction across a large, complex manufacturing facility (approximately 1 million square feet). Reporting to the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, this role sets operational objectives, manages environmental reporting, and directly supervises hourly unionized environmental technicians responsible for daily wastewater and hazardous waste activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day environmental compliance and permitting activities associated with air emissions (Title V), industrial wastewater discharge permits, stormwater, and hazardous waste management.
  • Supervise hourly unionized safety and environmental technicians; oversee staffing, performance management, workflow execution, daily activities, and operational process improvements.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental regulatory submissions, including Tier II, Form R (Toxic Chemical Release Inventory), and hazardous waste reporting.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on site-level environmental risk reduction, conducting technical research, data analysis, and employee training programs.
  • Support site adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards, maintain the site procedures database, and perform injury and incident data analysis in alignment with the Environmental, Health, and Safety Annual Plan.
  • Partner with Facilities Management and external contractors to administer site environmental policies, oversee contractor activities, and coordinate contract negotiations.
  • Support the implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety management systems (International Organization for Standardization 14001) and risk-reduction initiatives such as ergonomics, machine guarding, confined space entry, industrial hygiene, and control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tagout).
  • Apply lean and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline existing processes, optimize resource usage, and control operational costs.

Minimum Qualifications (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of progressive Environmental, Health, and Safety experience in manufacturing, industrial, or consulting environments.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience working within a unionized workforce environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Title V air permits, industrial wastewater treatment systems, and Large Quantity Generator regulations.
  • International Organization for Standardization 14001 implementation or auditing experience.
  • Environmental professional certifications, such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or Certified Professional Environmental Auditor.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with shop-floor teams as well as plant leadership.
  • Strong project management capabilities and proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles.


Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation
This position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
