Job Description

Mission:

Develop and support software solutions for manufacturing and metrology systems, including CMM inspection platforms, data collection systems, and ERP integrations.

Review, analyze, and modify business systems including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs. Lead projects limited in scope. Position requires interaction with user community, Metrology Analysts, Business Systems Analysts, and other MIS staff. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes to recommend effective system improvements.

Duties:
  1. Provide ongoing support for Process Control, ERP/MRP, data collection, and inspection reporting systems, including applications developed and maintained by MIS.
  2. Apply knowledge of system standards, technologies, and development methodologies to design, implement, and support business and manufacturing systems.
  3. Collaborate with system users, engineering, quality, and MIS teams to:
    1. Define, document, and validate system objectives and functional requirements
    2. Develop, test, and maintain application code and system processes
    3. Analyze business and inspection reporting requirements to determine data sources, processing logic, system interfaces, and control mechanisms
    4. Support integration of metrology and inspection data into reporting and database systems
    5. Create and maintain system documentation, including system references and user procedures
    6. Provide training and support to end users
  4. Develop and manage project plans and support activities, including:
    1. Coordinating design reviews, status reporting, implementation efforts, and acceptance testing
    2. Identifying issues, evaluating alternatives, assessing impacts, and recommending solutions
    3. Preparing project proposals and supporting documentation
    4. Conducting post-implementation reviews and reporting results and variances
  5. Maintain and enhance legacy systems critical to manufacturing quality and inspection reporting, ensuring system reliability, performance, and data integrity.
  6. Partner with MIS management to support strategic direction, system improvements, and modernization efforts where applicable.
  7. Contribute to the development and maintenance of application standards, best practices, and procedures at the departmental and divisional levels.
  8. Provide off-shift and weekend support for business-critical systems as required.


Requirements:

Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and experience. APICS certification or specialized training related to manufacturing or engineering is a plus.

Experience:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing and developing business applications, including manufacturing, finance, data collection, EDI, and process control systems
  • Demonstrated experience with Process Control and ERP/MRP systems, with emphasis on Visibility and PCC custom process control applications
  • Experience developing and supporting inspection reporting or data-driven systems in manufacturing or quality environments

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in legacy development environments, including Delphi and Visual Basic, with the ability to maintain and enhance existing applications
  • Strong database skills in Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL for data processing, reporting, and system integration
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and its application in inspection and reporting
  • Familiarity with CMM methodologies, inspection programming, and metrology data processing
  • Experience interfacing with metrology platforms such as Zeiss Calypso, Zeiss Inspect, or PolyWorks
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills (written and verbal)
