Full Job Description
The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) permanent full-time organized, detail-oriented, individual to provide analysis and call center reporting to the Data and Technology Unit of the Emergency Communications and Operations Management Branch. Responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports and dashboards to support data driven decision making by the leadership team.
  • Produce ad-hoc reporting on-demand to support internal initiatives, projects, and investigations.
  • Lead the design, development, automation and maintenance of statistical data and information for a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on statistical analytics and establish robust mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of the emergency call center.
  • Manage the Extraction, Translation, and Loading of data from various sources, including telephony and dispatch data, to serve the needs of Reporting and Analytics.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators by applying statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to inform operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports and dashboards to support data driven decision making by the leadership team.
  • Present complex concepts and analyses to stakeholders leveraging sound written and verbal communication skills complemented by striking and informative visual storytelling.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding data literacy, use of reporting tools, statistical concepts, and practices.
  • Create and maintain process maps, documentation, and training material; deliver training to stakeholders as needed.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to research and share best practices and methodologies.
  • Other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • University graduation in Criminology, Sociology and Applied Mathematics or other related fields of study.
  • A minimum of two (2) years directly related working experience is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications and services including Word, Excel, Access, Fabric, and Power BI.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate complex technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with Python, R, SQL-based query languages, DAX, and PowerShell languages an assets.
  • Experience providing analysis of metrics for call centers or public safety answering points (PSAP) would be an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Proven technical ability working with various computer software programs and databases.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Mature individual with the ability to adapt to change and work in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Experience transforming data within Snowflake would be an asset.


Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 024, $41.17 - $51.44 (Hourly), $3,294.20 - $4,115.50 (Biweekly), $85,977.58 - $107,415.07 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
