Job Description

Job Summary:

The Metallurgy Manager leads and oversees all metallurgical and materials engineering activities across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and team development. The Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives, provides strategic technical direction, and serves as the primary liaison with customers, suppliers, and certification bodies on metallurgical matters.

Essential Functions:
Leadership & Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of metallurgists and lab personnel to achieve business and quality objectives
  • Prioritize workload, assign projects, and manage team performance to meet production and customer deadlines
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders (Operations, Quality, Engineering) to align metallurgical strategy with business goals
Technical Oversight
  • Provide technical authority for all metallurgical processes, including forging, heat treatment, testing, and material evaluation
  • Establish and approve manufacturing plans defining processing parameters to meet customer requirements
  • Ensure all products conform to metallurgical specifications and approved process controls
  • Oversee analysis of metallurgical test data and direct process adjustments for compliance and optimization
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as primary technical contact for customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies on metallurgical issues
  • Lead resolution of metallurgical-related nonconformances and customer concerns
  • Review and approve metallurgical reports, certifications, and technical documentation
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, SOX, and all applicable regulatory and customer requirements
  • Maintain adherence to PCC Cardinal Rules, EHS policies, and quality standards
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions for metallurgical deviations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, yield, and process efficiency
Analysis & Engineering Support
  • Oversee failure analysis, microstructural evaluation, and grain size assessments
  • Provide expert materials engineering support to production, maintenance, and process engineering
  • Ensure proper calibration, testing standards, and laboratory practices are maintained
Communication & Reporting
  • Communicate key technical issues, risks, and performance metrics to senior leadership
  • Maintain accurate metallurgical documentation and quality records
  • Represent the organization in audits and external technical reviews
Other
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of metallurgical experience in manufacturing (aerospace preferred)
  • Minimum of 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role

Basic Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in heat treatment, forging, and pyrometry (AMS2750)
  • Knowledge of NADCAP, AS9100, and aerospace quality systems
  • Familiarity with ASTM, ASM, AISI, SAE, and MIL specifications
  • Experience supporting major aerospace customer requirements
  • Proven leadership, team development, and performance management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset


For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $128000 to $192000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
