Red Chris is an open-pit copper-gold mine in the famous Golden Triangle of northern British Columbia, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. As a fly-in, fly-out operation, Red Chris is reached via charter flights from multiple locations in BC and Alberta, with teams working on a rotational schedule. Currently an active open-pit producer, Red Chris is poised for an exciting transformation - we are developing a high-value underground block cave that will extend the mine's life for decades and unlock even more resources. The remote location fosters a close-knit "camp" community where safety and teamwork come first. Your impact

As a Metallurgical Technician, you will support safe, reliable, and efficient processing operations by conducting metallurgical testing, maintaining laboratory systems and equipment, and providing data-driven insights that help optimize plant performance.

As part of the team, you will

  • Perform routine metallurgical laboratory test work, including flotation, comminution, stream sizing, and sample preparation activities
  • Collect and analyze metallurgical samples and support plant diagnostic testing and circuit surveys.
  • Maintain laboratory procedures, safety documentation, and sample tracking systems.
  • Calibrate, inspect, and maintain online analyzers, particle size instrumentation, and sampling equipment.
  • Produce reports, interpret test results, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, assay laboratories, and technical teams to improve performance
  • Champion a strong safety culture through hazard identification, risk assessment, and adherence to site standards and procedures.
  • Support additional projects and duties as assigned by the Metallurgy Superintendent and Metallurgy Supervisor.


Prerequisites for your success in this role

  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in a mining or metallurgical environment.
  • Experience conducting metallurgical test work, including flotation, comminution, and sample preparation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with database systems is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and prepare reports.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining a strong safety record.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.


Your work environment

This site-based role is located at Red Chris and combines laboratory and plant-based activities. The position involves working with metallurgical testing equipment, collecting plant samples, supporting operational investigations, and participating in inspections during maintenance shutdowns.

The expected salary range for this role is is CA$85,400 - 113,900. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
