Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

Join our dynamic team in Charlotte, where, as a Metallurgist, you will provide essential materials engineering support for large turbine generators in the power utility market. You will collaborate with a global network of design, manufacturing, and service operations, with a focus on innovative materials concepts and processes.

In this role, you will engage in technical assignments that include supply chain support, failure analysis, and the qualification of new materials and suppliers. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting the full life cycle of metallic materials and components, helping to ensure the highest quality and performance standards across our turbine generator product line.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Develop and implement innovative materials concepts to support new part manufacturing and service repairs.
  • Perform data analysis on material properties to support and enhance product performance.
  • Write, maintain, and upgrade specifications for materials and related processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with component designers to select appropriate materials for electrical, magnetic, and structural applications.
  • Conduct failure analyses and root cause investigations to drive continuous improvement in materials, processes, and product reliability.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Science or Materials Engineering with a focus on metallurgy.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience with a strong foundation in materials engineering, particularly physical metallurgy. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Expertise analyzing structural steels, stainless steels, copper alloys, large steel forgings, and metal joining techniques.
  • Project management skills and a passion for continuous improvement of products and processes.
  • Expertise in fractography and the ability to analyze metal microstructures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to analyze data effectively.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20%.
  • Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher level, or vice versa.
