Full Job Description
Mental Health Therapist

The Mental Health Therapist provides direct psychosocial and practical support to patients and families in collaboration with case managers, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team. This role focuses on comprehensive assessment, care planning, crisis support, discharge planning, and connecting patients with the resources they need to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete diagnostic intakes and psychosocial assessments in compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans of care for patients and families requiring intervention.
  • Provide direct psychotherapy and psychosocial support to a caseload of patients.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support care coordination and patient progress.
  • Support discharge planning by identifying and addressing psychosocial barriers.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness and side effects; communicate concerns to the physician as needed.
  • Deliver crisis intervention, grief counseling, abuse reporting, and other urgent psychosocial interventions.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with department and regulatory standards.
  • Use feedback-informed treatment (FIT) in clinical practice.
  • Connect patients and families to community, legal, and clinical referral resources.
  • Facilitate family meetings and participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality improvement efforts.
  • Provide on-call coverage, committee support, and coverage for vacancies as needed.
  • Participate in required supervision per COMAR regulations.


Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's degree in applied psychology or a related field

Licensure/Certification:
  • Maryland LGPC or LGSW-C required

Experience:
  • 1 year of healthcare-related experience preferred
  • Field placement may be considered


Salary Range: Minimum 32.40/hour - Maximum 53.48/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
