Summary of the Job:
Work in concert with the Chief Medical Officer to directs the operations of the Medical Staff Services Department. Manages and coordinates flow of information from Medical Staff Committees to the Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committees and provides maintenance and oversight of physician and allied health files and database. Manages departmental and Medical Staff finances. Assists with TJC Survey preparation for the medical staff/leadership function. Works closely with medical staff leaders and hospital administration with regard to medical staff issues. Manages professional, clerical and volunteer staff including day-to-day supervision, employee relations, and staff development while maintaining effective and responsive relationships with medical staff and other departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess, at a minimum, an Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education (60 college credit hours) and at least 7 years experience in a Medical Staff Administrative position.
- Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialists (CPCS) by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
- Affiliation with NAMSS and the Louisiana Society Medical Staff Services (LSMSS) is strongly encouraged.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Must possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills and be able to work efficiently.
Physical Demands:Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 10 pounds is required.
