Job Purpose

GSK is looking to hire a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Vaccines Medical Team. This role is field-based and reports directly to the Medical Science Liaison Manager. This position covers the Alberta territory, and the ideal candidate will reside in or near Edmonton or Calgary.

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of GSK's products across our Vaccines and Respiratory portfolios through scientific dialogue and collaboration. You will work closely with healthcare professionals, external experts, and internal teams to share scientific insights, provide medical education, and contribute to GSK's mission of getting ahead of disease together. This field-based role requires regular travel across Alberta to engage specialists, healthcare professionals, external experts, and relevant professional networks through both face-to-face and virtual interactions. Your ability to communicate scientific evidence clearly, collaborate across teams, work autonomously, and build trusted scientific relationships will be critical to success.

  • Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts in primary care and respiratory by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support of highest industry standards in line with GSK values, policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Be recognized as the scientific field-based partner in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, vaccines, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation aligned to business strategy.
  • Be agile and adaptable to engage and provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., primary care and respiratory experts and other healthcare professionals, investigators, medical societies and organizations, advocacy groups, etc.) in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited inquires.
  • Be a proactive and solutions-oriented partner as the primary interface between the healthcare community and the internal cross-functional GSK teams to gather and share back insights that inform current and future business strategies.
  • Represent GSK at scientific congresses by providing session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, leading external expert engagements and contributing to congress summaries/share-backs as required.
  • Provide scientific training for GSK commercial team regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved training materials.
  • Assist the office based Medical Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Clinical Development and Operation teams for Investigator Initiated Studies and other evidence generation projects as needed.

  • Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system, including reimbursement processes.
  • Knowledge of regulations governing scientific exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment.
  • Ability to apply medical affairs expertise to support scientific dialogue and compliant engagement with healthcare professionals across the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Ability to apply and leverage scientific data with credibility while enabling peer-to-peer discussion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain professional relationships with healthcare professionals and external experts.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teamwork and strategic execution of medical affairs plan in the assigned territory.
  • Sound negotiation, leadership, and organization skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory (up to 70%, including evenings and weekends).

Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Familiarity with clinical development processes and real-world evidence projects.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French for scientific discussions.
  • Experience presenting at scientific meetings for healthcare professionals.
