Is a member of the radiation oncology team who has the overall responsibility for the technical aspects of radiation treatments. Provides therapeutic medical physics support, and consultative services for treatment delivery, and for equipment selection and acceptance, primarily for therapeutic equipment. The incumbent must have the ability to work independently, to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and patients, and patient’s families, and to maintain strict confidentiality. The incumbent also must have a strong knowledge of radiation safety and must be able to work with the department supervisor and medical director. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining personal knowledge, education, and skills in order to demonstrate the achievement of position specific competencies.
Work Experience:
3 years of experience in the clinical setting is strongly desired.
Education Qualifications:Master’s degree required in medical physics or related field.
Licensure/CertificationQualifications:Board certified or board eligible with certification in 3 years of employment in the subfield of therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Medical Physics, or an equivalent board and abides by body's requirement for continuing education.
