Job Summary:

The Nursing Director is accountable and responsible, under the direct supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer or Executive Director of Nursing Services as assigned, for the overall coordination and direction of all nursing activities in assigned areas. Partners with the managers of assigned departments to align activities to organizational goals. Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization's established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct.

Performance Expectations:
  • Responsible for the development/implementation of operational activities that are designed to achieve department/facility metrics for assigned department(s).
  • Responsible for achievement of appropriate staffing and for the work environment of the assigned departments.
  • Utilizes business acumen along with the ability to assess, analyze, and act on data to promote performance improvement.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders to promote throughput across the organization.
  • Engages others in the dynamic process of integrating mission and values in the drive towards future goals.
  • Critically evaluates, synthesizes, and interrelates information from internal and external sources when solving problems and making decisions.
  • Creates and sustains an environment that integrates the values of shared decision making into clinical and administrative practices.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships and promotes teamwork within and across departments.
  • Removes barriers to achieve outcomes and facilitate the work of others.
  • Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner and adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection, control, and compliance standards.
  • Consistently follows FGH policy, procedures, and standards of care in performing nursing duties.
  • Ensures capital budget is utilized for the cost centers assigned including planning, obtaining quotes, and maintaining budgeted costs.
  • Demonstrates financial liability with effective use of supplies and staff.
  • Ensures infection control procedures and quality measures are followed.
  • Monitors and evaluates Nursing Care on a continuous basis for all assigned departments.
  • Provides leadership for staff and serves as role model for staff.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate changes in policy and procedures and other appropriate communication to staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to participate in department planning, decision making and policy formation.
  • Demonstrates the ability to hold staff accountable to organization mission and vision.


Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

Master's degree or equivalent in a health related field or organizational development preferred or Bachelor's degree

in related field with five (5) plus years of progressive and relevant experience

Work Experience:

A minimum of five years post -graduate progress in nursing leadership experience required.

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

  • Licensed RN able to practice within the State of MS


Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

  • Basic Life Support
