Responsibilities*- Perform duties inclusive of an LT (Laboratory Technician)
- Process incoming samples by ensuring correct labeling, tracking, centrifugation, aliquoting, and storage.
- Accurately analyze patient specimens on instruments and/or by specified manual methodologies within specified turnaround times.
- Perform high complexity testing without direct supervision.
- Recognize critical, abnormal and unacceptable test results and follow-up according to established protocols.
- Accurately transcribe patient data from instrument printouts or worksheets into computer record including any pertinent sample description comments.
- Perform analysis on data output from instruments and create preliminary reports.
- Perform and record routine instrument maintenance procedures.
- Analyze and record quality control materials with documentation of action on out-of-range values.
- Identify problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results, and take action as outlined in associated procedures.
- Monitor instrument error codes, troubleshoot, and correct problems as necessary.
- Instruct, train, and observe medical laboratory science (MLS) students, new employees, and pathology residents in bench procedures and theory.
- Assume responsibility for first-line supervision of the section on a temporary basis as delegated.
Required Qualifications*In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment. - Baccalaureate degree in Medical Laboratory Science, equivalent laboratory science, or in a chemical, physical or biological science.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist or eligibility for certification at the time of hire is required.
- Demonstrated successful clinical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate medical terminology and technical procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and take appropriate actions with clinical results.
- Demonstrated effective organizational skills within a lab setting.
Desired Qualifications*- Previous experience in immunoassay techniques is desirable.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with other medical personnel in both verbal and written form.
- Demonstrated ability to independently organize and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team.

Work ScheduleThis full time, 40 hour position is on the day shift, Sunday-Thursday and may include rotating weekends, holidays and on-call.
