Job Duties

The Office of Licensure and Certification in Richmond, VA is seeking full-time Medical Facility Inspectors for the HCO (Home Care Organization) Acute Care team in the Northern Virginia region.

This position will conduct onsite inspections and complaint investigations of HCOs. This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 40 hours of front-loaded annual leave time with a one-year written agreement for external candidates.

Medical Facilities Inspectors, independently or as part of a team, conduct inspections of HCOs for the purpose of licensure, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state regulations and promotion of quality health care practices. The inspector will conduct complaint investigations; compile and evaluate information in determining degree of compliance; communicate findings orally and in writing; review and recommend approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plan; recommend plan of correction to supervisor when the provider is not in compliance. May serve as information resource to health care providers. Frequent and overnight travel (up to 3-4 days per week) is required throughout the state of Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications
• Self-directed individual with specialized knowledge of health care systems and services, quality of care issues & health care administration
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; ability to manage multiple assignments independently; to listen actively, share job knowledge, maintain professionalism, and follow through with requests
• Ability to independently assess individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and to interpret and apply complex state/federal regulations to the findings
• If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with exception to Complaint Unit.
