Medical Director of Neurology - Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware

Position Summary:
We are excited to announce a position opening for a full-time Medical Director of Neurology at Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, DE. The Division of Neurology is in an exciting period of growth and transformation across its clinical, educational, and research missions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the building and shaping of this rapidly evolving Division.

We are looking for a skilled team builder, an effective teacher, and an outstanding clinician with sub-specialty expertise in neurology. This person is responsible for the clinical operations, including patient workflows and clinical guidelines, in the Division of Neurology. She or he should have a track record of leadership experience in clinical operations and optimization of clinical service. He or she should have both excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as comfort with a matrixed leadership structure and the ability to build credibility to achieve his or her vision for exceptional patient care. This person will have subspecialty training in a relevant area of neurology.

Interest in and a track record of clinical research will be a strong asset in this role. Protected time for research activities is negotiable on the basis of previous experience and includes opportunity to collaborate with laboratory-based scientists, also including clinicians and bench researchers.

The position reports to the Division Chief of Neurology within the Department of Pediatrics. The successful candidate will have practice locations both at the main Wilmington campus and in other satellite locations in southern Delaware and, potentially, Maryland.

The Division provides inpatient and outpatient clinical services at locations in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. A faculty appointment consistent with the level of academic achievement will be provided at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. All levels of experience, including recent fellowship graduates who are board-eligible, will be considered. Qualified candidates will have experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team and with medically complex conditions.

Kery Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all clinical operations for the Division of Neurology, including physician workflows and care policies
  • Work in collaboration with leadership team to identify clinical priorities and strategies to optimize and grow the neurology program
  • Serve as attending physician during designated weeks and participate in on-call coverage as part of the service team
  • Conduct regular general neurology clinics
  • Teach and mentor residents and medical students with emphasis on your specialty area
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research activities
