Job Description

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and New York City Health + Hospitals/Queens is seeking a full-time faculty as Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine.

The hospital is easily accessible by public transportation and car from all areas of New York City, New Jersey and Long Island.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of Blood Bank operations at both Elmhurst and Queens hospitals.
  • Ensure patient safety and quality of blood bank operations.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards, including those of the AABB, New York State Department of Health, and College of American Pathologists.
  • Supervise laboratory operations, policies and quality programs.
  • Collaborate with hospital and laboratory leadership.


Qualifications

  • MD/DO degree
  • Board certified in Clinical Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
  • Board certification in Blood Banking transfusion medicine would be a plus, with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine or
  • American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Hematology with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine
  • Valid New York State License and Medicaid number
  • NY State CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology
  • Experience overseeing Clinical Pathology operations and regulatory compliance is a plus

Compensation

We offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary leadership team working with a diverse patient population in a major clinical and training institution. Compensation range from 307K to 307K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)
