Medical Director - Adolescent/AdultHelp us help others:This position is responsible for providing crisis psychiatric treatment to adolescents and/or adults with severe and persistent mental illness in a community mental health setting.
You will get to:- Perform as lead medical professional in collaboration with the treatment team and administrative staff, meeting daily with the treatment team.
- Provide direction on the scope, types, and evaluation of clinical programming offered, utilizing best practices and proven clinical methodologies in delivery of patient care.
- Evaluate patients regarding their need for psychotropic medication, in person and/or virtually, and prescribe medication when appropriate.
- Complete Psychiatric Evaluation with Medical (90792) within one hour of patient arrival to the Extended Observation Unit (EOU).
- Complete 12-hour reassessments/progress notes of EOU patients daily at 0800.
- Complete 90792 within 24 hours of patient arrival to the Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) unless already done within 72 hours at another facility.
- Complete physical health assessment within two hours of patient arrival to the CRU unless already done within the last week at another facility.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation, including weekly progress notes on all CRU patients, in the electronic medical record that supports diagnosis and outcome-based services with a recovery-oriented philosophy.
- Provide administrative oversight including approval of policies and procedures and scheduling of 24/7 psychiatric medical coverage. Monitor referral system for admissions.
- Supervise PMHNPs assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Stay up to date with online job training requirements through Relias.
- Participate in on-call coverage (optional). Additional on-call compensation provided.
You'll definitely need:Medical Director Adolescent and/or Adult
- Medical Degree; Board Eligibility in Psychiatry; Board Certification Preferred
- Texas Medical License and DEA Registration
- Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Texas, plus:
o Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program and child/adolescent fellowship approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent body.
and/or
o Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent body.
- Meet all other criteria for employment and medical staff appointments as appropriate.
- Complete and maintain both CPR certification and Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior training within the first 3 months of employment.
- Maintain valid Texas state driver's license and auto insurance.
- Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
