Full Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES:
  • Lead a team of Mechatronics Integrators in the design and integration of automation equipment along with individual project execution.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Single point of contact for his/her team both to delegate work & requests & to escalate issues
    • General supervision, training, and guidance of all Mechatronics Integrators that are part of his/her team
    • Responsible for team performance in respect to meeting departmental and project-based milestones and KPIs
    • Foster an atmosphere of creativity, efficiency, and collaboration within the team
    • Roll out company & departmental objectives to team members
    • Evaluate team member performance and complete regular reviews
    • Conduct 1:1 with team members on a regular basis to continuously develop & coach them
    • Responsible for Cost and Schedule oversight of all the projects assigned to the team members
    • Ensures, checks and approvals that all work products produced by his/her design/integration team members are acceptable based on the functionality, adherence to standards, accuracy, completeness, and consideration for safety.
    • Work with the team and encourage team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, support implementation of suggestions and confirm completion of continuous improvement suggestions.
    • Collaborate with Managers to set goals and manage successful performance for his/her team members.
    • Ensures that all employees, under their direction, are aware of and follow all Health and Safety procedures established by the Company & responsible for the Safety of all employees in his team
    • Ensures that all employees receive job-specific training to be able to work effectively and where needed, provide the employee with written instructions
    • Understanding of all Jobs done by your team - can cover anyone during vacation/absence


  • Individual Contribution:
    • Work with the project-assigned Mechanical design team to assist with mechanical designs, simulations, and other calculations. Work with the mechanical design teams to complete, review and ensure Configuration sheets and any other inputs required for application coding are complete and ready as per schedule.
    • Transition into the integration phase of a project, working with the software integration lead through to FAT and SAT.
    • Begin integration of equipment through the downloading, setup and safety testing of automation equipment.


  • Drive integration activities, tracking progress, coordinating integration plan and working with other disciplines to complete integration.
  • Use problem-solving tools to root Cause and correct issues leading to the completion of tasks and improvement of processes or tools for the department and/or company.
  • Travel and install equipment and help in the completion of SAT.
  • Travel if needed to support ATS equipment in the field if required.


Qualifications

Education:
  • A post-secondary diploma, degree or equivalent qualification, specializing in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or controls engineering.


Experience:
  • Several years of experience and understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Leadership experience considered an asset
