If you do, apply today to join us as a Mechanical System Specialist, where you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient operation and strategic improvement of critical infrastructure systems.

What will you be doing!
  • Providing oversight of the day-to-day operation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, steam, water, compressed air, natural gas, and related utilities.
  • Responding to emergent system issues and directing repairs to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and approving work packages and scopes of work for internal teams and external contractors.
  • Managing projects and portfolios related to system maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement.
  • Developing and implementing preventive maintenance and asset management plans.
  • Assessing system condition and prioritizing work to maximize performance and value.
  • Coordinating planned shutdowns and ensuring critical maintenance activities are executed effectively.
  • Collaborating with procurement, engineering, maintenance teams, and contractors to deliver work successfully.
  • Communicating system status, risks, and requirements to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • Diploma or certification from a recognized trade or technology program (or equivalent).
  • Experience
    • 5-10 years of experience in operations and/or maintenance of mechanical systems.
    • Demonstrated experience with central heating plants and facility mechanical systems (HVAC, cranes, elevators, water systems, etc.).
    • Experience working with utilities distribution systems such as steam, condensate, compressed air, and natural gas.
    • Experience supporting project management activities and overseeing contractors.
    • Experience applying maintenance planning processes and executing work programs.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, including developing technical scopes and documentation.
    • Proven ability to collaborate with unionized and non-unionized teams and stakeholders.
    • Experience using software tools such as Excel, Word, Access, and scheduling systems (e.g., Primavera).
    • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
