What you will do

Join Johnson Controls and help shape the future of innovative mechanical products! We're seeking a talented Mechanical Product Engineer III to drive product development through design, testing, data analysis, and project management. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to influence products from concept through manufacturing, leading design improvements, implementing engineering changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Strong communication and technical presentation skills are essential as you'll work closely with engineering leaders, product management, and manufacturing teams to bring ideas to life.

This exciting opportunity is based at our state-of-the-art Advanced Development & Engineering Center in New Freedom, PA. Candidates should be within commuting distance or open to relocation. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

How you will do it
  • Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical aspects of water-cooled chillers
  • Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product
  • Work closely with the design and drafting group in generating layout concepts and system configurations
  • Contributes to the on-time completion of programs and regularly reports on the status of projects
  • Generates technical documentation and writes technical documents for use within the company
  • Prepare and help execute test programs to verify performance and reliability of mechanical sub-components and systems
  • Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on test data
  • Applies mechanical codes such as UL, CE, PED, ASHRAE, and ASME
  • Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process
  • Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment


What you will need
Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; or Chemical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in a related field
  • Basic understanding of fluid and thermal principles - specifically the refrigeration cycle and related oil lubrication and cooling
  • Proficient with 3D CAD software
  • Able to travel up to 10%

  • Strong product development background in a manufacturing environment


HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $125,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
