Full Job Description
Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a detail oriented, well organized, dependable entry-level Mechanical or Environmental Engineer to join our Melville, NY office.

This position includes working as part of the engineering team in our Melville NY office to support environmental engineering services for our local clients focusing primarily on the design and operational support of environmental remediation systems for soil and groundwater. Typical assignments include design support, field data gathering, collecting air and water samples, and report writing.

As part of the engineering team, this position provides support to senior engineers to deliver high value consulting services to help solve some of our client's most challenging environmental concerns. The Melville Office Engineering Team is part of the Arcadis Resilience Environment team. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you'll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Senior Scientists/Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse environmental assessment and remediation projects. This opportunity is also to support our growing emerging contaminant project portfolio and remediation capabilities.

Role accountabilities:

Our services encompass a range of responsibilities aimed at engineering design and optimization support for treatment systems. You will specialize in providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects underway, catering to both the US Federal Government and industrial clients.

You will actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, pilot programs, and full-scale remedial efforts. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering effective communication by engaging in face-to-face meetings with clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders.

Duties will include field assignments and will require local travel. Field activities may include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding and following written work plans/engineering design drawings


  • Site inspections and remedial system operations and maintenance activities


  • Oversight of subcontractors


Office duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Data management (compilation, manipulation, evaluation, and presentation of data) and data interpretation including calculations


  • Writing and preparation of reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda


  • Coordination with project managers and senior engineering staff


An ideal candidate for this role is someone comfortable balancing both field and office responsibilities, with an expectation of up to 70% fieldwork and up to 10% travel. The candidate should have strong experience in environmental investigations and compliance, proficiency in Microsoft Office, effective communication skills, and a strong commitment to health and safety. Additionally, strong team-building and organizational abilities are essential for success and meaningful project contributions.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $65,578- $98,366. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
