Mechanical HVAC & Pipefitter Superintendent

Location: Winston Salem, NC

Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000 / year

Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial construction projects in the Winston-Salem market and surrounding areas

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all field activities on assigned projects. This role ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with company standards and project specifications.

The Superintendent will serve as the on-site leader for crews, working closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, subcontractors, and clients to deliver high-quality installations.

Responsibilities

Project Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day field operations for mechanical projects.
  • Supervise foremen and field personnel.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project schedules.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate installation.

Scheduling & Coordination
  • Work closely with Project Managers to maintain project timelines.
  • Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to avoid conflicts and delays.
  • Participate in construction meetings and provide field updates.

Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure installations meet code requirements and project specifications.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
  • Conduct field inspections and proactively resolve issues.

Safety
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety policies on job sites.
  • Conduct safety meetings and ensure crews follow safe work practices.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all projects.

Workforce Development
  • Mentor and develop foremen and apprentices.
  • Assist in evaluating performance and identifying training needs.
  • Foster teamwork and accountability on job sites.


Qualifications

Required
  • 3+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems (water, waste, vent, storm, gas).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Thorough understanding of plumbing codes and safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred
  • North Carolina plumbing license.
  • Experience with large commercial, healthcare, educational, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in scheduling tools or construction management software.
