Machine build, commissioning & bring-up - electrical assembly and panel/I/O wiring, reading/verifying against drawings and specs, and full FAT/SAT commissioning to bring stations up to spec and standards.
Production-floor troubleshooting & uptime - fast debug of live equipment, root-cause analysis, and countermeasures to keep machines running and improve reliability (MTTR/MTBF).

Day-to-day work includes:
- PLC programming & debug -
developing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC logic on any platform (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000/ControlLogix, Beckhoff TwinCAT, or similar), following established controls standards.
- HMI/SCADA support -
building and maintaining HMI screens and SCADA applications (Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC, or equivalent) for real-time line visibility, alarms, and production data.
- Machine build & assembly support -
mechanical and electrical assembly, panel and I/O wiring, sensor/actuator mounting, and getting equipment physically ready for power-up.
- Machine spec verification & acceptance -
verifying each machine is built to specification and complies with controls, electrical, and safety standards; checkout against acceptance criteria; documenting conformance / punch-list items.
- Machine uptime ownership -
ensuring the machine is up and running: monitoring equipment health, rapidly responding to faults and downtime, and keeping the line productive.
- Commissioning & bring-up -
station/line bring-up, FAT/SAT, and ramp: wiring checkout, I/O verification, sequence testing, and cycle-time tuning.
- Automation & robot integration -
integration and programming of industrial robots and automation cells (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB), including safety-circuit checkout.
- Daily production support -
troubleshooting live equipment, root-cause analysis, and countermeasures to improve uptime (MTTR/MTBF).
- MES interfacing & integration -
interfacing equipment with the MES (e.g., the Quickbase-based MES, Ignition, etc.), validating data exchange, and supporting traceability, build-data/test-result capture, and connectivity (OPC-UA, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
- Documentation -
maintaining electrical/controls documentation, drawings, commissioning checklists, and troubleshooting knowledge bases.
(Technician-level version weights more toward panel build, wiring/I/O checkout, field troubleshooting, and hands-on commissioning support.)
