The Mechanical Engineer designs, modifies and evaluates mechanical components for both Research and Development (R & D) and sustaining production. May coordinate the efforts of drafters, application engineers and machine shop personnel as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Apply engineering principles to conduct routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes.
- Write test procedures, compile, and evaluate design & test data and prepare technical specifications.
- Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.
- Evaluate non-conformances in production to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Contributes to project planning, including estimating effort and cost, prioritizing/ordering tasks.
- Provide technical clarification about product function, acceptable modifications, and limitations to sales groups and customers.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement, both for products and processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 4 or more years of experience in designing mechanical components/systems for industrial applications.
- Proficient in 3D modeling software to design mechanical parts, assemblies, and drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3 and BPVC Code construction preferred.
- Experience with common measurement instruments.
- Experience with product development and product life cycle preferred.
