Department Summary

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Engineer. As a Mechanical Engineer on the Hughes Product Team, you'll take full ownership of satellite communication hardware, from early concept all the way to production and real-world deployment. You won't just design components, you'll shape systems that define the future of human connectivity. We build systems and work at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and RF engineering, ensuring high-reliability, high-performance solutions that perform where it matters most.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead hardware development for satellite communication products end-to-end, from concept to production and beyond
  • Transform raw ideas into optimized, system-level solutions through hands-on design and analysis
  • Apply cutting edge tools such as CAD, FEA, CFD as well as tried and true analytical techniques to solve complex challenges
  • Hold design reviews with stakeholders to drive the ball forward, use your creativity to influence product direction, and ensure you design is ready for compliance certification in the global marketplace
  • Deliver manufacturable, reliable designs using GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis; coordinate with both outside vendors and our internal manufacturing plant to ensure parts come in as designed and products can be built at scale
  • Champion your design for manufacturability, efficiency, and continuous improvement; drive your design to be faster, lighter and less costly to build
  • Work side-by-side with multidisciplinary teams you'll create integrated solutions to make the difficult possible
  • Plan and execute testing to validate performance and ensure our products meet rigorous standards
  • Own timelines and drive success across every stage of the product lifecycle

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other technically related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience (e.g., CAD, testing, design, etc.)


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Skilled with CAD (Creo, SolidWorks or Fusion 360) for the creation of parts and assembly models; able to read and create detailed engineering drawings to ASME Y14.5 standards; exposure to Configuration Management system
  • Knowledgeable in mechanical design & analysis, testing, and electronics
  • Experience conducting performance tests, generating results and presenting them to technical and non-technical groups
  • Experience using engineering analysis tools (FEA, CFD, etc.) to validate your designs and capable of explaining the results to others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and own product development timelines while maintaining focus on the details that matter
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in fast-paced, iterative development environments
  • Knowledgeable in GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis for production-ready designs
  • Experience with electronic board assembly design, including mechanical integration, mounting strategies, and thermal management solutions
  • Working knowledge of electronics design across chip-level, package-level, and board-level integration
  • Familiarity with RF, EMI/EMC considerations in hardware design
  • Background in manufacturing environments and production scaling
  • Knowledge of supply chain, production processes, and lifecycle management

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $100,500.00/Year - $134,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
