Mechanical Engineer Location: Mossville, IL
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite (Flex Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Pay: $43 - $46 an hr We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Engineer to join a highly collaborative engineering team focused on the design, development, fabrication, and testing of cutting-edge prototype machines and systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on first-of-their-kind projects, partnering with engineers, technicians, and leadership to bring innovative concepts from design through prototype build and validation.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both hands-on fabrication and technical design work, thrives in a fast-paced prototype environment, and is eager to contribute to high-visibility engineering programs.
Key Responsibilities - Research, design, develop, and test mechanical systems, equipment, and prototype components.
- Support multiple concurrent prototype projects through design, build, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Create and review engineering drawings, models, and design documentation.
- Utilize CAD tools to develop prototype designs and support manufacturing processes.
- Investigate equipment failures and recommend corrective actions and improvements.
- Operate and maintain prototype manufacturing equipment, including:
- 3D printers
- CNC machinery
- Cutting, milling, and welding equipment
- Electrical cable and harness fabrication tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop best practices for prototyping and manufacturing.
- Track prototype inventory and provide logistics support for project execution.
- Analyze customer requirements, specifications, and technical documentation to determine project feasibility.
- Support prototype delivery efforts while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Software/Controls Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Associate degree candidates may be considered with 9+ years of applicable technical experience.
- Strong experience creating engineering drawings and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience with CAD software and mechanical design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, hands-on team environment.
