Job Description

The Mechanical Designer III performs their job functions under the supervision of a project's Engineer-of-Record. The Mechanical Designer III works on matters of intermediate complexity under the responsible charge of the registered Mechanical Engineer. This role is expected to work closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design. Other tasks include assisting with 3D modeling and design, conducting field investigations, performing a combination of independent design and red-to-black markup/review tasks, and producing discipline deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Interface with client and external partners
  • Plan work from a Mechanical design perspective
  • Travel as required for client development and project execution
  • Involved in early conceptual system planning
  • Support the development of early design phase deliverables such as use point maps, utility routing planning, stacking diagrams, and will start to take on more independent mechanical distribution system design responsibilities utilizing computer aided drafting engineering software in conformance with CRB's VDC standards
  • Work on a variety of mechanical assignments supporting all phases of design including initial planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Work closely with architectural, engineering, and construction staff members to ensure assignments are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Assisting with 3D modeling and design, conducting field investigations, performing a combination of independent design and red-to-black markup/review tasks, and producing discipline deliverables


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicable Associate degree, technical trade school certification, or demonstrated Architectural,
  • Engineering, and/or Construction firm experience in the field of Mechanical design required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience required, including field experience in either a design or construction capacity


Additional Qualifications
  • Basic proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP required
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Basic experience with mechanical and other industry standards required
  • Basic experience with building codes preferred
  • Basic experience with developing and implementing key aspects of HVAC, mechanical utility, and piping designs in the built work environment required
  • Basic knowledge of cGMPs and/or experience with advanced technology industry projects such as R&D labs, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & nutrition and/or consumer products is preferred
  • Solid working and applied knowledge of the applicable building codes, technical and design aspects of CRB's market areas
