Full Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and solutions-driven Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of engineered solutions. This role is responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, 3D models, and technical drawings while collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, manufacturable products. We are looking for a Mechanical Designer based at our corporate headquarters in Wendell, NC. Located in the heart of the Research Triangle about 20 minutes east of Raleigh, Wendell offers top-rated schools, a mild climate, easy access to mountains and coast, and a cost of living that allows our compensation to go further. You'll make a difference by: • Develop 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (e.g., NX, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit). Ensure designs meet required specifications, standards, and safety regulations. Ensure solutions meet quality standards, scalability, and performance requirements. • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing to deliver custom solutions. Support engineering teams in designing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Provide support for troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues. • Translate conceptual designs into detailed technical documentation and production-ready drawings. • Maintain accurate documentation, bill of materials (BOMs), and revision history. Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into revisions. • Assist in prototyping, testing, and validation of designs. Support fabrication and manufacturing teams during build phases. Identify and mitigate risks related to solution delivery. • Find opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and design optimization. Stay on top of industry trends and evaluate their impact on designs. • Knowledge of Equipment Center (E-House) design and structural design for modular enclosures. • Collaborate with sales and offer teams during pre-sales activities, including solution presentations and technical discussions. Ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction. Support Executive Reporting by assisting senior engineers in providing updates to management regarding solution engineering initiatives, progress, and challenges. You'll win us over by having the following qualifications: Basic Qualifications: • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering. • Two (2) or more years of experience in a technical role, which may include mechanical design and manufacturing engineering experience. • Software Application Knowledge: Solidworks, Autodesk suite, Revit or similar. • Familiarity with industry standards, new technologies, and market trends. Knowledge of NEC, IBC, IFC, IECC codes and application of LV and MV systems. • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% (domestically). • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: • Previous sheet metal design or welded assembly design experience. • Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities. • Ability to align technical solutions with business goals. • Solid understanding of Industrial Enclosure State requirements • Experience with Siemens NX, SieOps (Salesforce). • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, MS Teams. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
