Role:ThisMechanicalDesignerrolefocuses on the innovative design and development of Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) for direct liquid cooling systems. The position involvessupporting the entire design lifecycle from concept to testing, collaborating with various teams and partners, and continuously improving product designs for enhanced performance and manufacturability. This role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, proficiencyin CAD and simulation tools, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:- Design, drafting, and development ofmechanical components and assemblies for coolant distribution units (CDUs) usingSolidworks.
- Create detailed engineering documents, reports, and presentations to clearly explain design ideas, test results, and recommendations to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Performdesignand drawing reviews, submitengineering change notices, and supportcompany engineering change management processes.
- Buildand test CDU prototypes, run experiments, collect data, and refine designs based on the results to achieve the desired thermal and mechanical performance.
- Continuously look for ways to make our CDU designs better, improve howthey'remade, and choose better materials to make them more efficient and reliable.
- Supportthe complete design and development ofCDUs, considering factors like how heat moves, fluid flow, sensor placement, cable organization, and how easy they are to manufacture.
- Work closely withcoreteams, customers, and industry partners to ensure our CDUs fit well into the overall cooling system designs and that projects run smoothly.
WHO YOU ARE:Basic Qualifications:- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology,MechanicalDesign,or equivalent.
- Minimum of5years of relevant experience inphysical productdesign.
- Familiarity with NPI, PLM, and PDM processesand principles of engineering change control.
Preferred Qualifications:- Understanding of designing components for mass production using various manufacturing methods (e.g., sheet metal, machining, welding, casting, andinjection molding).
- Understanding ofDfXtechniques; design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Reliability, Maintenance, Test, etc.
- Understandingofprocess piping, P&ID and building mechanicaldesign, particularly with respect to HVAC and fluidtransfer.
Skills:- DemonstrableproficiencyusingSolidworksCAD to create detailed mechanical designsand manage large assemblies in PDM.
- Draftingand review of drawingsusing applicablestandards (e.g. ASME Y14),GD&T,and statistical tolerance analysis.
- Design of electromechanicaland hydraulicsystems, electrical cabinets, and piping assemblies.
