Full Job Description
Design Engineer: Implement safe and cost-effective mechanical design solutions into the glass manufacturing processes of VAD and OVD. Design of new equipment, including material handling, and modifications to existing equipment used by operations to meet daily production requirements and drive continuous improvement.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Manufacturing or industrial experience of 5 years


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)
  • Mechatronics knowledge and experience
  • MS degree Mechanical engineering


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement mechanical design solutions into the Norcross VAD and OVD manufacturing processes to support safe, quality oriented and efficient operations
  • Design new equipment, including material handling, and modifications of existing equipment used in the glass making processes
  • Work efficiently with maintenance / trades organization
  • Lead small to medium technical projects through all phases; from conceptualization, to cost analysis, to equipment design and construction, to final prove-in
  • Provide timely, collaborative support within the operations, maintenance, engineering organizations which meet production KPI and OI impact requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Experience with Solidworks software modeling and detailing
  • Familiarity with GD&T tolerancing
  • Familiarity with machine shop fabricating equipment
  • Experience designing and building equipment
  • Experience designing dynamic systems
  • Proven creative/innovative mindset and effective problem-solving ability in order to work as a team player
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and chemical systems in industrial applications and integration
  • Hands-on manufacturing and industrial experience
  • Capable of leading small to medium scale, complex, cross functional technical projects
  • Capable of collaborating within different parts of the organization, including R&D, Sales, and Marketing
  • Highly adaptable to a broad set of technical areas
  • Innovative, creative, large picture mentality, cooperative, knowledge driven, self-starter
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to work with a diverse team of technical and non-technical staff
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and presentation skills
