Roles and Responsibilities
  • Manage time efficiently and continually improve personal work ethic.
  • Effectively handle competing priorities with guidance of team leadership.
  • Practice and encourage safety-conscious build processes.
  • Work cooperatively and jointly within a team to provide quality products.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward customers and team members.
  • Work with cross-functional team to complete projects on time while meeting planned budget.
  • Communicate with team members, management, and customers regarding job progress and identify potential issues.
  • Understanding of machine design theory and make accurate calculations.
  • Practice and encourage safety-conscious design processes.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers on the team.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and management in project decision-making.
  • Complete simulations and risk assessments as assigned.
  • Provide designs that are manufacturable, accurate, meet project scope, and will work with departments in the plant to ensure work conveys correct information and is error free.
  • Develop bills of material.
  • Lead design of medium to large sized machines.
  • Use SolidWorks software to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, images, & other forms of communication.
  • Apply standard drafting/design principles and theories to complete assignments.
  • Work closely with Design Manager & Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
  • Draft engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches and formalizes them into working drawings.
  • Utilize technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics or similar engineering track.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in SolidWorks design software.
  • Advanced proficiency in small machine design.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in medium and large machine design.
  • Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have advanced knowledge in advanced CAD techniques.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Intermediate knowledge of metals and varied materials


Physical Requirements
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 25lbs or heavier.
