Mechanical Design Engineer-The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for design changes affecting mechanical equipment and fluid systems including tanks, pumps, valves, piping, filters, heat exchangers, contactors, and utility systems.
Duties:- Prepare mechanical calculations, equipment specifications, piping design inputs, and installation packages.
- Support modifications to process equipment, piping systems, mechanical supports, and maintenance access features.
- Evaluate pressure boundaries, equipment replacement requirements, material compatibility, and reliability impacts.
- Coordinate with process, structural, electrical, and radiological engineering on system interfaces.
- Support equipment selection, procurement inputs, installation support, and system turnover.
- Participate in field troubleshooting and mechanical design resolution.
Education/Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with mechanical system design in industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of piping and equipment design practices.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with pumps, valves, tanks, filters, and heat exchangers in process plants.
- Familiarity with highly regulated or hazardous operating environments
Other Job Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
