The Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing material flow, inventory control, shipping/ receiving, and warehouse operations to ensure uninterrupted production. This role ensures the timely receipt, storage, and delivery of materials while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities- Material Flow & Supply
- Ensure continuous availability of raw materials to support production schedules
- Coordinate inbound, storage, and line-side delivery of materials
- Monitor material shortages and implement corrective actions
- Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and system integrity (SAP or ERP)
- Lead cycle counts, physical inventory, and reconciliation processes
- Optimize inventory levels to balance supply continuity and cost
- Warehouse Operations
- Supervise daily receiving, storage, picking, and shipping activities
- Ensure proper material handling, labeling, and FIFO compliance
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and 5S standards in all material areas
- Team Leadership
- Supervise and develop warehouse/material handlers and team leads
- Assign daily work, monitor performance, and support problem resolution
- Drive engagement, safety awareness, and continuous improvement culture
- Production Support
- Collaborate with production, planning, and logistics teams
- Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules
- Support launches, engineering changes, and demand fluctuations
- Supplier & Logistics Coordination
- Track supplier delivery performance and escalate issues
- Communicate material changes and supply risks internally
- Support logistics planning and transportation coordination
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives to improve material flow, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
- Analyze KPIs (inventory accuracy, shortages, on-time delivery)
- Implement process improvements and standard work
- Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce safety, environmental, and company policies
- Ensure compliance with warehouse and material handling standards
What We're Looking For- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5+ years of experience in materials, warehouse, or supply chain operations
- 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Experience in manufacturing environment required
- ERP systems (SAP preferred)
