Compensation Range: $79,000-$85,000
Minimum Knowledge and Experience:
Five years of relevant experience in materials or warehouse management, preferrably in transportation, manufacturing, or transit
Experience with inventory management, materials planning, and cycle counting
Minimum High School diploma. Two-year or four-year college degree a plus.
Knowledge and application of inventory control practices and procurement policies and procedures.
Valid driver's license.
Familiarity with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements for materials storage.
Skills:
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft D365, Trapeze a plus)
Must have intermediate skills in MS Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
Key Accountabilities (Essential Job Duties):
Demonstrates committment to the KCS principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence, Safety & Security, and Economic Performance in all aspects of warehouse and inventory operations.
Lead and supervise storehouse staff, including scheduling, coaching, performance oversight, and troubleshooting challenges.
Manage day-to-day operations of warehouses to ensure continuity of service, safe practices, and quality.
Manage and perform routine cycle counts to drive inventory accuracy and reduce variances.
Coordinate and lead the annual physical inventory, ensuring full compliance with internal controls, KCS accounting standards, and external audit standards.
Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of parts and materials using the Trapeze inventory management system.
Maintain accurate tracking of parts issues, returns, and adjustments maintaining within Trapeze.
Establish,maintain, and monitor KPIs related to inventory control procedures.
Monitor and enforce inventory control procedures to minimize loss, ensure accuracy,and improve accountability in warehouse operations.
Analyze inventory discrepancies and lead root cause investigations, implementing timely and effective corrective actions.
Liase cross-functionally with the Procurement and Mechanical teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and material flow to support business operations.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to parts handling, receiving, storage, and system entries to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance.
Provide regular support, guidance, and reporting to KCS client (MBTA)
Assist with development of monthly ODRL reporting requirements that meet contractual obligations required by the MBTA.
Train and coach staff on best practices and proper system use, with emphasis on the functionality of Trapeze and adherence data entry standards.
Generate and interpret inventory reports to identify trends, risks, and process improvement opportunities across warehouse and materials operations., Otherduties as assigned.
Working Conditions (including Physical Demands)
Work Environment includes a blend of office, warehouse, and outdoors.
Exposures include loud noises, cold and hot environments.
Essential Physical Requirements include climbing, lifting (up to 75 lbs.), and walking.
Requires occasional travel between warehouse and operational facilities.
Occasional weekend work required
Must follow and enforce KCS safety protocols including the use of PPE where required.
