Description Position at Keystone Powdered Metal Company
Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time
Materials Engineer who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location. This person will report to the VP of Engineering.
Job Duties and Responsibilities - Work with all manufacturing facilities to troubleshoot /solve issues specifically relating to
- material concerns. Examples are part contamination issues, heat treat oil contamination and so forth.
- Become the technical lead on Keystone's Perk and Elmer Spectrometer.
- Become the technical lead on specialized test equipment, such as:
Part specific Impact Testing.
Part specific Tensile Testing.
Part specific MTS Testing for Fatigue.
- Entering test results in MS Access or Excel and producing organized reports/charts.
- Report results to supervision and offer tentative conclusions.
- Develop an understanding of Keystone's mixes, such as:
Flow and Arnold Density of mixes.
Pressure Density Curves of mixes.
Density, Hardness, Break Strength, Carbon content and
Microstructure of sample parts.
- Develop an understanding of all Keystone's heat treat processes and equipment
to aid in troubleshooting. Such as:
Processing: Dimensional change, hardness, case depth and case depth development, etc.
Equipment: Endogas generators, furnaces, coils, power supplies, etc.
Qualifications- Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent technical experience (minimum of 5 years) within the Powdered Metal Industry with emphasis on materials and processing.
- Communication skills a must.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
